‘Hiyas sa Kadayawan’ cultural presentation and coronation date and venue revealed!

Hiyas sa Kadayawan will be represented by 10 tribes of Davao City!

The 10 tribes of Davao Vity are the tribes of Ata, Matigsalug, Ovu-Manuvo, Klata-Djangan, Tagabawa, Tausog, Maguindanao, Maranao, Kagan, and Sama ethnic groups.

This years Hiyas sa Kadayawan will no longer showcase the talent night , but a cultural presentation night of each tribe.The prize for the for the talent showcase has been increased as it is intended for the cultural development of the winning tribe.

Carol Valdez, officer-in-charge of Duaw Davao Festivals Foundation said:

“Dati kasi it used to be called as talent night pero ngayon cultural presentation na. So hindi siya magiging Miss Talent. The best cultural showcase is not awarded to the person, it’s awarded to the tribe.”

The cultural presentation at NCCC Mall on August 11.

The coronation night will be on August 16 at the Davao City Recreation Center.

Kadayawan Festival 2012 Schedule of activities bared!

Kadayawan 2012 kicks off today with the opening ceremonies and Indigenous People’s Panagtagbo this afternoon at 4:30PM. Feel the vibe and enjoy the Kadayawan 2012 festivities in Davao City’s 10 Tribe One Vibe.

“Visit Samal Island 2012” Calendar of Activities revealed!

The Island Garden City of Samal will launch “Visit Samal 2012” tourism on April 21, 2012, at the Penaplata Central Elementary School Grounds.

On its opening day, a silent drill in which 300 cadets from the Philippine Military Academy will perform, followed by the Motorkada sa Isla Float Parade where a blimp from the Philippine Air Force will shower colorful confetti on the crowd. The event will also include performances by live bands and fire dancers.

More activities will follow in its April 21-July 15 run, which have been deemed in an Executive Order as “Visit Samal Island” months, including sport tournaments, music and arts festivals, cultural presentations, live bands, and more.
