The Ateneo de Davao University offers 2 new courses the AB Interdisciplinary Studies (AB IDS) and AB Islamic Studies!

The Commission on Higher Education (CHED) recently approved two new college degree programs at the Ateneo de Davao University: AB Interdisciplinary Studies (AB IDS) and AB Islamic Studies.

“AB IDS is unique in that it combines different disciplines in new ways to respond to the needs of the global work environment,” said Dr Renante D. Pilapil, Dean of the School of Arts and Sciences.

It trains students in the interrelated fields of media, technology, and business, and philosophy, and management. It solidifies skills in English and in Asian or European languages as well as share knowledge in modern cultures and arts.

“AB IDS is designed to give graduates multiple career opportunities,” added Pilapil. Graduates are equipped to occupy creative and analytical positions in education, government, and business, including telecommunications, public relations, multimedia design, and information technology.

“It is enriched educational experience at its best,” concluded Pilapil. Its cross-disciplinary concentrations are: Language and Literature; Media and Business; Media and Philosophy; Media and Technology; and Philosophy and Theology.

AB IDS aims to develop individuals with confidence, competence, and courage to take on the challenges of the 21st century.
Further, to contribute more meaningfully to peace and development efforts in Mindanao, Ateneo de Davao also offers AB Islamic Studies, major in Political Economy, for the first time.

“AB Islamic Studies seeks to develop Islamic experts who will work towards education and governance in the autonomous Bangsamoro areas and beyond,” said Islamic Studies Coordinator Ustadz Janor C. Balo said.

Graduates of AB Islamic Studies will find work in foreign service, business and technology companies, government and development agencies, as well as in Islamic education and research institutions.
