Autism awareness seminar on June 5 in Davao City!
The Autism Society Philippines (ASP)–Davao Chapter will spearhead a seminar and teaching demo on Autism Spectrum Disorder (ASD) on Saturday, June 5 at MIC Cursillo House, Torres St. at 1-5 p.m..
The seminar aims to provide information about ASD, to discuss the nature and characteristics of each stage from childhood through adulthood with corresponding curriculum, and to present appropriate interventions.
ASP-Davao President Eric de la Costa said the seminar is the last part of the five-part seminar series which started last January 2010.
He said the part five tackles on “Adult Life: Sustainability and Independence” with sub topics such as Work Placement Options; Functional Communication Programs; Dealing with Behavior and Emotions in the Workplace, Home and Community; Social Skills and Community Involvement; Physical Fitness; Health and Hygiene, Independence and Safety; and Financial Preparation.
Seminar resource person is Special Education specialist Nino Ricky S. Tumadiang. Tumadiang is also a coordinator, teacher, consultant and program director on Special Education.

Without a doubt, 19-year old Pao has a bright future ahead of him. Not only is he very creative and eloquent, but he can also play 4 musical instruments (piano, guitar, violin and drums) and can naturally impersonate anyone and everyone. A junior in Ateneo De Davao University, funny guy Pao is also an Internet enthusiast, with four active social networks of regularly updated content.

Davao Franchising seminar on May 26-27!

THE Philippine Franchise Association (PFA), in cooperation with the Department of Trade and Industry (DTI)-Davao and Philippine Chamber of Commerce and Industry (PCCI) Mindanao, announced the staging of the Davao Franchising Forum on May 27 and 28 at Bangko Sentral ng Pilipinas (BSP) Convention Hall, Davao City.
The seminar series is part of the PFA’s campaign to heighten public awareness on the benefits of franchising and help future franchisees to make wise decisions before they invest.
To usher in the two-day event is the “How to Franchise Your Business” seminar, slated on May 27, for micro, small and medium entrepreneurs (MSMEs) who want to grow their business via franchising.
On May 28, the seminar on “How to Buy the Right Franchise Wisely” will be conducted, featuring franchise experts who will discuss trends and opportunities in Philippine franchising and the process in selecting and buying the right franchise, plus presentations from PFA member companies on their franchise investment packages.
The staging of the Davao Franchising Forum is in conjunction with PFA’s participation at the Davao Food Expo, organized by Global-Link MP Events, from May 27 to 29 also at the BSP Convention Hall.

Sara Duterte: 1st woman Mayor of the Davao City!

Vice Mayor Sara Duterte is officially declared winner after deafeating House Speaker Prospero Nograles for the mayoralty post of Davao City, and becoming the first woman to occupy the post in the city’s history.
Her father, Mayor Rodrigo Duterte, also won against his nearest rival, former Mayor Benjamin de Guzman, by a wide margin.
In a post-election interview on live TV, Sara heart fully thanked the people of Davao City for their support and promised to give more social services for the people.
When asked about the Nogralese’s now that the election is over, if there would be a reconciliation with their closest rival in politics. This is what she said:
“I think they won’t do that, and I am not ready to accept it because with all the threats his group inflicted on me, my husband and my daughter, it is very painful,” she said.
“Dili ko plastic, they are all in my hate list. I hate them because they included my daughter in their dirty tricks and threats,” she said.
She revealed the threats in the form of anonymous text messages that she received during tha campaign period:
“We know where you live, we know where your family and daughter live.”
